Seasonal Maintenance Laborer

1. Job Overview

Professional landscape maintenance knowledge and know-how, one year of commercial experience required.

Comprehensive skill set including:

a. weed identification and removal techniques
b. shrub and tree identification and specific care
c. mechanical and hand edging of garden beds
d. pruning techniques for shrubs and trees
e. use of hand tools including rakes, shovels, brooms
f. operation of zero-turn riding mower, push mower, hand held/backpack blower, line trimmer, hedge trimmer
g. installation of perennials and shrubs

Pre-employment physical screening may be required
Pre-employment drug screening may be required
Work uniforms are required

2. General Conduct

Safety procedures and employee training: proper training on all equipment used, as well as proper safety procedure training and PPE (personal protective equipment) are used with all tools and equipment, compliance and understanding of safety program at all times.

Efficiency: ensure that proper tools and equipment are used for all tasks, keeping on task as outlined by crew leader.

Physical labor: 100% effort required at all times while on the clock, you must be physically able and capable of performing all above listed physical duties, you must be able to lift 50# or more when requested, using proper lifting techniques.

Employee policy comprehension: understanding and execution of all employee policies at all times.

Miscellaneous duties: removal of garbage from vehicles on a daily basis, organization of shop tools, clean tools as necessary

3. Paperwork and Communication Requirements

Timecards: ensure that you have correct client name and times for individual jobs, fill out time card on a daily basis, double check time cards with crew leader for accuracy, ensure time cards are turned in every Friday.

Daily worksheets/work orders: assist crew leader with paperwork as requested.

Follow instructions: communication with crew leader in morning regarding the day’s work, comprehension of instructions and tasks, following time constraints given by crew leader.

Miscellaneous duties: read all assigned educational materials that are presented/available, continuing education and achievement of comprehensive knowledge of plant names and identification

4. Miscellaneous Notes

Hand tools: employees will receive one pair of hand pruners and one dagger. If lost, the employee will be required to pay for replacements (pruners $25.00, dagger $18.00), worn out tools will be replaced at no cost to employee.
